I love watching the news and TODAY show, but lately, it’s been kind of a downer. Recession, storms, murder, etc. Not exactly something pleasant to start the morning. Oh and the good television is going on hiatus now for the summer, so that’s a double FAIL.
So I’m finding comfort and fun in total fluff television, aka reality shows.
And lately, the ones I cannot seem to stop watching are The Real Housewives of [insert city], Millionaire Matchmaker and Make Me A Supermodel. I blame the last one on the lack of Project Runway in my life. Fortunately that will be fixed soon.
So why do I love these shows, it’s simple. Pure 100 percent entertainment without an ounce of thought.
I don’t have to think about why Kelly is crazy or what lead her to be as absentminded as she is. I can just bask in the fact that she enjoys jogging in the middle of NYC traffic and dressing like a hippie when she should be wearing a bra.
And I don’t want to know more about Simon and Alex, I enjoy watching them tactlessly decorate their brownstone like a bordello or vampire lair and laugh as their children remain unparented and running amok. It’s great!
Now the Real Housewives of New Jersey has started and I’m sure I’ll seamlessly move right to that series too. And those women are k-r-a-z-e-e too. I’ve never heard the word “bubbies” used so frequently in one period of time.
Oh and Patti from Millionaire Matchmaker is my total hero. I always enjoy watching her sass some woman “auditioning” for the Millionaire’s Club or telling some spoiled man he’s white trash. Sure it’s harsh, but when it’s not targeted at you, it’s just fun!
So while I’m reality TV obsessed, I refuse to start watching the new VH-1 show, New York Gets a Job. That’s just a gimme for teasing and I don’t think I could stomach it.
What reality shows are you obsessed with right now? Or what shows are your guilty pleasures? Is anyone else looking forward to Project Runway coming back?
Oh boy. I used to hate reality TV, but now I’m into a few. Namely:
-Kendra (on E!)
-The Bachelorette (on ABC), dumb as it is
-Obsessed (on A&E)
I used to love Jon and Kate, but after all that crazy hoopla, I’m way over it. Too depressing.

The Today Show is part of my morning routine, but yeah it can get pretty redundant. And hello The Real Housewives of ___. Omg I love that show. I’m excited for the NJ one. I recognized the family right away though because they already did Plantinum Wedding for Dina’s wedding. She had a gorgeous dress…..
My guilty pleasures are the Real World/Road Rules Challenge and Making the Band.
And I can not wait for Runway to start up again!!!
HUGE fan of the Real Housewives franchise! Sorry, but I can’t really stomach the OC ladies – they are TRULY desperate.
Atlanta, NYC (Team Bethenny!) and now NJ are my faves.
I can’t get into Make me a supermodel nor the new project runway ripoff, The Fashion Show.
I HATE the Hills and any show on VH1 so I only turn to Bravo for my reality show fixes.
OMG, I am OBSESSED with Real Housewives! And thankful once again that I don’t live in northern Jersey. Those women are not just crazy, they’re scary.
I also love Millionaire Matchmaker, Make Me a Supermodel, Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl, Lost (can’t wait for next season!) and Weeds.
Oh, and I am super excited about the PR comeback! I hope it’s still as good.

We have so much fun that we are thinking about starting a liveblog for NJ. Should be interesting.

Ah I wish I had cable! I’m missing out on most of the shows you are talking about. I just watch the CW, ABC and Fox.
ABC looks like it might have some interesting shows this summer though – something about a marraige reality show…
I don’t watch a lot of TV. I’m bad at it – I always get distracted – but I DO love Project Runway.
We might watch a few of those shows in my house, too. The Real Housewives – man they crack me up. I love Jill. Seriously want her to be my auntie. And Bethany is the bomb! NJ gals sure are wacked. I swear at least one of them married into the mob. And Patti? She has the biggest heart. Seriously. If you pay attention, she really wants things to work out with her millionaires. And I just love how she’s quick to the point about who/what stays and who/what goes. Really, if only everyone would follow her dating rules, maybe dating wouldn’t be such a bitch!
Of course Real Housewives but also RW/RR The Duel and Charm School…gotta love trashy bitches! :)
I too am a Real Housewives addict. I’m totally embarrassed when people find out, but watching it makes my life seem so wonderful and normal. The hubs thinks I’ve lost my mind.

I loved Tool Academy, but it’s over now :( I love all the MTV dating ones though (Shot at Love, Rock of Love, etc)
We cancelled our cable but still get Bravo for some reason. I’ve been watching all that trash too! NJ is awesome!
The City is my guilty pleasure, people seem to roll their eyes when I say I watched it but I’m not ashamed :P
I’ve been watching Make Me A Supermodel, and I too have to blame it on the fact that Project Runway isn’t where it’s supposed to be. When is it even supposed to come back?
I love the Housewives too! I even loved the Housewives of Atlanta-so trashy! I still watch the Hills too though it’s getting pretty painful. I love all those Bravo reality shows. I loved, loved, loved Flipping Out with Jeff Lewis. Can’t wait for that to come back on.
PLEASE don’t think everyone from Jersey is like that! LOL. That show makes me nervous… I have to defend my state too much as it is!
Ohhh…damn the Real Housewives for ALWAYS sucking me in! I will miss NYC. But NJ seems like it will entertaining. And I agree with Angela. Orange County is the first and best, by far.
All the Real Housewives excluding Atlanta are favorites and The Hills/City of course! Thinking about picking Project Runway this summer – time to see what all the hype is about!
I am not a reality tv person. Normally I watch the hills but skipped it this past season. I hate all the ones with “celebrity” because they are not celebrities or stars or even famous. Sure once they may have been but not now. Not sure why it bothers me so much but it really does.
I can’t watch any Real Housewives unless it’s the REAL Real Housewives. Of Orange County. Those will always be the best.
But about the only tv I watch is reality. I couldn’t get enough of Tough Love a few weeks ago. Now it’s time for Daisy of Love, RW/RR Challenge, Charm School….
I havent been watching much tv at all — even the news or the Today show. The surprising part? I don’t really miss it. I’ve been doing a lot of reading instead. =)
