Emmy fashion recap-oh the fashion!

By: Jessica B.

Oh yes everyone, it’s award season where I sit at home in my pajamas and glasses, eating ice cream and watching the Red Carpet coverage, daydreaming of couture gowns and diamonds dripping off my arms and ears.

Yeah, I’m dreaming about it now……..

Anyhow, last night was the Emmy’s and I’m here to honor and highlight the good and the bad of last night’s fashion.

But first, I will say, I thought Neil Patrick Harris did a great job (so funny and dapper), Dr. Horrible was an AWESOME surprise (and hilarious) and Jimmy Fallon cracked me up with his fall-inspired song. I was laughing hysterically.

On to the fashion!

So in summary, I had to REALLY work to find material for this post. I was pretty happy with all the choices last night. Yes, the bad ones jumped out but overall the colors and cuts were great and everyone was dressing age appropriate.

I’m sure this won’t be the trend as we get into the Globes and Oscars, but this got the creative juices flowing.

Who was your best/worst dressed or your favorite part of last night’s show??

I just love your fashion recaps!

My favorite part of the show was NPH…and, of course, Dr. Horrible. :)

  2. Lil' Woman says:

I didn’t get to see but I love Toni Collette’s dress and Jenna Fischer looks good.

  3. Lollygagger says:

Thank you for the re-cap since I didn’t watch :)
And I actually like Jennifer Carpenters dress, but I think it’d look A LOT better if she wasn’t so skinny. Ilck. Who is she anyways? Who are all these people? ;)

  4. Colleen says:

I, too, love John Krasinski. A friend of mine just had him over for dinner (long story) and she said he’s darling and charming (we knew that) and totally funny. She also said Emily Blunt came, and that she would “take her out” for me if needed….

  5. Colleen says:

I, too, am in love with John Krasinski. A friend just had him over for dinner (long story) and said he’s funny and charming. And, regrettably, she said that Emily is too. She offered to take her out for me…

  6. barbetti says:

Funny enough, I know several other bloggers who loved Jennifer Carpenter’s gown!

Me, I actually didn’t watch it because my husband commandeers the tv at night. Boo.

  7. Em says:

    I want the mirror/discoball dress :)

  8. MinD says:

I didn’t watch, but checked out some fashion recaps, and Leighton was the WORST. Sorry, but she was. Jennifer Carpenter wasn’t great either, but Leighton chose a horrible dress, without a doubt.

Loved Blake Lively’s dress, disliked the hair.

Heidi looked a bit out there for me. It’s great that she wants to show off her giant baby bump, but it might’ve been too much. Just my opinion though.

  9. katelin says:

i loved drew’s dress, but it reminded me so much of penelope cruz’s dress from like 2 years ago. still cute though.

and i love toni’s dress too, but she needs to back off of the tanning, wowza.

and yeah heidi is amazing, heart her.

but i don’t think i had a super overall fave, alyson hannigan did look pretty great though.

  10. Nora says:

didn’t watch the Emmy’s but didn’t have to! Fabulous recap here of the dresses & etc. Toni Colette is one of my favorites. Poor Jon Cryer! He needs a new stylist.

  11. lbluca77 says:

I loved Toni Collette dress. Everything about it I just loved. And I forgot she was Australian till she started talking.

  12. loved loved loved Toni Collette and Kristin Chenoweth’s dresses.

and I definitely agree with on Jenna for most improved. because, usually? Blech.

  13. Kate says:

I know it’s terrible, but I kind of like Jon Cryer’s outfit.

    Can we still be friends?

  14. Maxie says:

I don’t hate leighton’s color choice w/ her skin, but the shape just sucks. She’s normally so adorable!

  15. jenn says:

i HATED blake lively’s dress. i think she always looks like a hooker. put your boobs away, girl!

  16. Kyla Roma says:

See? This is why I love your blog, I can be in the know without sitting through the speaches that make me want to gag.

Some of these are beautiful though! Wow!

  17. L.C.T. says:

I love your fashion blogs :) Although I don’t agree with best dressed female but then I don’t like frills. Otherwise great!

  18. pinkjellybaby says:

Oh see, I thin Leighton Meester looked lovely…how NICE not to see someone all tanned up and showing off legs/breasts… I think she looks the nicest

  19. Heidi Renée says:

I loved Christina Applegate and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

I think I made a dress like Leighton Meester’s out of toilet paper when I was in college.

  20. Andrea says:

Kyra Sedgwick was my least favorite. Her dress looked like the adult version of something my mom would would me to wear in a family portrait in fifth grade. I thought Drew Barrymore and Christina Hendricks looked super pretty though.

  21. Angela says:

Ugh. Sarah Silverman makes me sick. I think she’s one of the worst actors and comediennes of all time.

  22. Andhari says:

Wow, I love Toni Colette’s dress. The color, the composition..awesome. Blake Lively was wearing a good one too. It’s important to look all sophisticated while bringing out a little bit of edge and they did :) I love it! I love dresses!

  23. mandy says:

I was more excited for your review post than I was the actual Emmy’s! I always think Mariska Hargitay looks awesome. Jennifer Love Hewitts yellow gown was one of my favorites as was Christina Applegate’s dark blue one. I completely agree that Leighton Meester needs a spray tan ASAP.
