Happy Sunday everyone! Well, there is still snow on the ground but it’s warming up into the 30s in Chicago this week. And after a few days last week, that is a heat wave. I never thought I’d say it’s balmy 20 outside right now.
*Dreaming of a beach…..*
This weekend was random, crazy and totally fun. I was also drunk at some point every day this weekend. That’s a big accomplishment for me. Yay!
But what I want to talk to everyone today are two topics: being overserved and brunch. Personally, I love both. I love brunch, with fresh eggs, fruit and food deliciousness, and being overserved because it gets me drunk for cheaper. And while we’re in a recession, I need to maximize my dollar wherever I can.
And fortunately, today I hit the double word score of both items. I had brunch and was ridiculously overserved at it.
That’s right, several Chicago friends and bloggers gathered for the celebration of my colleagues’ Meg and Maris‘ birthday. And when Maris told us about a $20 champagne brunch at a charming Italian restaurant in Lakeview, I was in LOVE.
This is the same place that puts plastic penguins in the window in winter. So cute.
Anyhow, we ate absolutely delicious food and consumed enough champagne to kill a horse. In fact, the waiters started just bringing BOTTLES of champagne to our table with orange juice separate to save on glasses. And we conserved them, with multiple spills along the way.
I’m willing to bet we went through 8-10 bottles of champagne and it was SO much fun. Great food, friends and conversation, that’s a triple word score.
And here’s the last thing I saw too before going into a full champagne haze. The bubbles make memories fuzzier faster.
I don’t know why people complain about being overserved, one day, we all pay that generosity forward.
How was everyone else’s weekend? What type of drinks do you preferred to be “overserved” on? Champagne or wine is a BIGGIE for me.
New movie review: This weekend I saw Avatar and immediately came home to write up my review. Check it out.

Must you always have more exciting weekends than me? I’m growing far too jealous.
I like being over-served on anything – alcohol, good food, etc. It’s funny, I made the same thing you had for brunch on Sunday morning.
Two my favourite things … brunch and bubbly :)
Now I want a mimosa!
An overserved brunch sounds nice right about now…I will mostly go home and fix myself a captian and coke…happy monday!
eggs benedict and champagne/mimosas? hello most perfect brunch ever.
that sounds like a heavenly brunch and being overserved champagne is definitely a plus, can’t really complain there. haha.
I love the penguins. I used to walk by on my way home from work and always look for them with a smile. :) Never have had the brunch there, but will now plan to!
My arteries hardened just looking at that last pic. I bet the food tasted AMAZING.
Since I’m not much of a drinker, I prefer to be overserved by a really cute waiter who’s trying to flirt with me. :)
Overserved? Never! There is no such thing :-)
Oh, yum. Seriously. I want a champagne brunch, and I bet I can find one in this city now. But it’d be way more fun to hang out in Chicago and go with you and your buds since you know the good places!
I need to join you one weekend in your exquisite and classy meals because HOLY CRAP, every place you go looks fantastic!
Good god, I was so hungover by 8pm. I didn’t even think I drank that much, but that sneaky, adorable little waiter of ours couldn’t stop bringing bottles! His fault.
Sounds like FUN! Now I want brunch.
has it been unseasonably cold in Chicago too? It HURTS here, that’s how cold it’s been. Although, us DC-nites should probably shut up because we don’t have to deal with temps below zero.
Well…not usually.
Brunch at Angelina is always a raucous affair. Josh does their website, and we occasionally head up to meet his brother and some friends for brunch- crazyloudgayridiculouslydrunken brunch.
Mmmm. Champagne.
I LOVE that they put penguins in the window during the winter. That’s reason enough for me to go there =) Glad you had a great weekend!
I LOVE CHAMPAGNE BRUNCH!!!! Bring me alonggg :)
That definitely one of the things I love the most about Sundays :)
I’ve decided champagne is like tequila for me. Serve me the good stuff and I can drink it all night long with few repercussions in the morning. Serve me the bad stuff and the headache doesn’t wait until the next day; it starts immediately. That said, I love me some champagne, almost more than white wine. Glad you had such a fun weekend.
I don’t believe in too much champagne. never ever.
Oooh I DEFINITELY like to be overserved on champagne! Also rose wine or french martinis – mmmm.
Ummm, jealous. I’d love to be overserved. Yes please and thank you.
I’m trying to think of something I like more than Champagne brunch.
Sex?
Eh.
Your overserved brunch sounds wonderful. What a great way to spend a Sunday morning. I had an incredibly quiet low key weekend, which was good. I needed it. I plan on aiming to be drunk every day of the weekend in a few weeks. =)
Overserved on champagne sign me up!!
