Weekend recap: Movie nights and photoshoots

By: Jessica B.

Happy Sunday everyone!

I promise there are no new stories to share about bone marrow or octopus, I stayed away from trying new things this weekend :)

In fact, this weekend was pretty low-key, which felt really good.

On normal weekends, I run around the city a lot doing errands and going out, so laying low barely happens (until late Sunday night).

And I definitely had to lay low because things in the money department are a little snug until I get paid this week.

Why? Well fortunately, it’s all for good reasons, like that I’m going to see these guys in May:

And bought my airfare to this:

Bloggers in Sin City

I’m super excited about all of them, but that means I must be a very good girl for a bit. Credit card debt looks bad on me.

So to keep my wallet out of trouble, my weekend mission was low-key, affordable fun.

And that included a Saturday photoshoot with some local photographers and bloggy friends for fun in Millennium Park where I got to practice my ANTM smizing and Zoolander Blue Steel poses. I was also reminded how badly I take direction too during photo sessions. I am AWKWARD. Photos are still coming in but I’ll keep you posted on the final results.

Also, the best way to unwind from a photoshoot is with cupcakes. That’s a fact.

My low-key weekend also included a blissful Saturday night in with laundry, movies, food and shirtless werewolves. Yes, you read that right. I had a hot date with this guy.

Yep, I did not mind staying in to watch this on my big screen. AT ALL. I also didn’t salivate as much during this movie as I did in the theater (progress!)

Fact: Sometimes, a night in with movies and junk food is more fun than going out. I need to have more of those in my weekend routine!

How was everyone else’s weekend? What’s your idea of the perfect night in?

Final call for giveaway entries! The Macy’s gift card giveaway ends tomorrow night so this is your last reminder to enter here for a chance to win a $50 Macy’s gift card!!

  1. Awesome! I wish I could go to Vegas and see Glee! Sounds like fun :)

  2. Her says:

I saw New Moon this weekend too–I giggled through the entire movie, and now we’re randomly mimicking the cadence of their speech. I never said I was cool!

  3. Mega says:

Perfect night in is coming up as I get Mad Men Season 3 from the Netflix tomorrow. And that almost looks like me shirtless. Almost.

  4. Gord was out of town … my weekend was fairly busy.

  5. Yes says:

you are never going to meet a guy this way!

  6. Jamie says:

And thanks for celebrating my birthday with me too. You’re awesome.

  7. Tara says:

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. That’s fun that you’re going to Bloggers in Sin City – I haven’t thought about it but maybe will try to book it.

  8. Wonderful says:

    Cupcakes are awesome anyday, anytime.

  9. katelin says:

sounds like the perfect weekend to me. especially the part with taylor shirtless and your ticket to bisc being purchased, hurrah!

  10. mandy says:

Your summer is going to be awesome! I love low key weekends. I did nothing but lay around on Sunday and watch Lifetime Movie Network. You will have a great time at BiSC.

  11. Erin says:

I’m with Jenn. I’m jealous that this weekend is abnormal for you! Although, a photo shoot sounds like fun! I’d probably be awkward, too, but I think it would be neat to try anyway.

That’s going to be an awesome time in Vegas. Can’t wait to hear all about it!

  12. Kate says:

I spent this weekend nursing a nasty sinus infection — your weekend sounds a lot better! But my husband did take good care of me, including buying me a box of Thin Mints from Girl Scouts who were selling them outside the grocery store. Score!

  13. Nora says:

    1. Sadface that I won’t see you in Vegas this year :( I will be in ChiTown the weekend over Memorial Day to run my 10 mile race. Maybe I can see you then?

    2. Cupcakes + photo shoots + junk food + Twilight = sounds like a winner to me!

Lately I’ve been running around so much during the week between work and school, running and seeing friends that the weekends are my time to relax and do absolutely nothing (which usually means running, errands, and then dinner/movie nights out with the girls).

  14. A Super Girl says:

So ticked Conan isn’t coming to Detroit. Like to the point that I want to look him in the eye and say “Leno did. And he did it for free, too.”

Ah well, enjoy him and tell us all about it!

  15. kimmy says:

haha, my friday night was exactly like your saturday night!! to save money, i only let myself go out one weekend night. otherwise way too much $$ gets spent at bars!

i rented New Moon…it was the first time i’ve seen it and i must say, Jacob owned that movie!

  16. Lil' Woman says:

Sounds like a chill weekend…they are some of my best weekends! :) But this past weekend I did have some fun with some fellow bloggers for a girls weekend! :)

  17. Andhari says:

I love simple movie and snack night with my friends as well. Going out all the time can be a bit dull, gotta spice it up :) and saving up for Las Vegas! Best reason ever!

  18. steph anne says:

I wish I had a date with that guy!! I’d date him instead of Edward. :)

  19. Jessica says:

Sounds like a fab and relaxing weekend :) I need to get New Moon!

  20. jenn says:

dude – you are infinitely cooler than me, simply because sitting at home with junk food and a movie is a rarity for you. that’s called “the weekend” around my house. :) especially in winter – we hibernate!

  21. Maki says:

Oh bloggers in Sin City sounds awesome and dangerous! BTW, I was kind of looking forward to you trying new stuff :( Also I haven’t seen “New Moon” – isn’t that bad? I need to see it, I know! I’m glad you had a lovely and lay back weekend!

  22. coco, glee, and bloggers in sin city – can your summer get any more awesome?!

  23. Stephanie says:

I love a good weekend night in. Well…they actually aren’t that uncommon. It is usually run, run, run all day and then dinner and TV on the couch. I lead a very exciting life!

  24. Heidi Renée says:

We pretty much always stay in unless we’re going out to dinner. There’s just not that much to do around here and we’re homebodies anyway.

I might have to come kill you in your sleep and take your Glee tickets. :)
