Random pre-weekend thoughts

By: Jessica B.

Was it just me or did today (Thursday) feel like Friday? Lately that seems to be happening a lot. Which means Friday will feel like Saturday and work is the last thing on my mind on Saturdays.

So while I’m preparing for a full weekend of cheap fun and vacation planning (countdown!) I wanted to share some random stuff I’ve been reading and thinking about.

Prepare to enter the vortex of my random head:

  • I read that Katie Holmes will play Jackie Kennedy in a History Channel miniseries in 2011. As a huge Jackie Kennedy fan, I’m really p*ssed off by this. Joey as Jackie? Dawson would not approve and neither do I
  • You can buy a faux or real engagement ring inspired by Bella’s in Twilight. Yes, I love Twilight and Jacob’s rock-hard arms and abs but I do not want to wear Twilight-inspired jewelry, unless it’s from Tiffany
  • The Hills started again this week…and it gave me a good self esteem boost and reminder why I don’t watch that show anymore. The cattiness is unbelievable
  • I got a working library card! And now I’m a book-reserving fiend. But I have to remember to read the reserved books when I get them
  • I’ve rediscovered my love of dark chocolate covered dried cherries. Smack my a** and call me Sally they’re good. Can I count them as healthy?
  • The interview with Oprah and Rielle Hunter really irritated me. Maybe I’m too sensitive to cheating and like Elizabeth Edwards too much but hearing Rielle say she isn’t a homewrecker, kind of pissed me off
  • Got my People magazine in the mail today too and saw Sandra Bullock’s new baby. Seeing that kind of joy on her face made me happy
  • Two co-workers are totally obsessed with Patron tequila. They rave about it but I’ve never tried it, is it really that good?
  • Found out my gym is in financial trouble because it hasn’t paid its mortgage since September. Did they learn nothing from the housing crisis?
  • I heard a rumor that there might be a nacho cart at work tomorrow. Sweet baby Jesus I hope that’s true. Cheese sauce made in the crock pot is amazing

Well kids, that’s what’s stewing in my brain right now. What’s on your mind? Any big weekend plans?

I was going to chime in on the bs Katie Holmes casting, but can’t stop thinking about the fact that you guys have a nacho cart. A freaking NACHO CART. Nacho. Cart. I mean, I just, I…

    I don’t think “jealous” covers it. Pouting…..

  2. Stephany says:

I usually have 10 or so books on reserve on my library. It’s the best because I don’t really have to find books at the library. I just look on Amazon and then hope my library has them in stock, or another library around the area does. I love the library.

  3. We had a busy busy weekend … I’m being lazy today.

  4. andhari says:

Patron tequila made me throw up like crazy on Friday night. Deadly!

  5. Erin says:

I would seriously kill for a food cart at work. We just have lame little kid snacks that don’t satisfy my pregnant hunger at all.

  6. Craig@work says:

Rielle Hunter. I know I’m a guy and all, but she is NOT the homewrecker, John Edwards is. Sure, she played a part, but she wasn’t a part of the marriage, and he wasn’t big enough to recognize the problem and deal with it with his wife. He should have either taken the steps to fix the marriage or end the marriage before getting involved with Ms. Hunter. So, hate her all you want, but look at the REAL picture. She wasn’t the homewrecker, she was the hidden port in the storm that got found out. And no, I don’t condone his actions, or hers, and I think it’s bullshit so many people are empowering her to make money on all these appearances by acting catty towards her, and not him.

  7. katelin says:

i think i prefer the kids version of the hills over the real thing any day now, it’s just too ridiculous and spencer and heidi make me want to vomit, so there’s that.

    also, nachos? i am jealous.

also again, i may actually need to buy this week’s people just because of how much i love sandy! :)

  8. Paula says:

My grand weekend plans involve packing followed by travelling to the Greek island of Zante for a week – woohoo!

  9. Nora says:

The only time I had Patron tequila was in Vegas.
    10 shots to be exact.
Paid for by some random guys who also bought just as many shots for my EIGHT friends that I had with me.
That was probably the quintessential Vegas night.

I do have to say that apart from being really tired the next day (we went to bed at sunrise) I didn’t have much of a hangover and Patron goes down really easily.

  10. I think I was even more weirded out by Greg Kinnear playing JFK. Bizarre.

And Patron: It goes down very easily. Perhaps too easily.

  11. Kate says:

I heard a rumor about a cupcake cart in Chicago. Is this true?!?

  12. molly says:

Yesterday was totally Friday for me too! Nacho cart? What the hell, gimme some of that. And of course you know I’m PUMPED that you got your library card. DVDS, CDS, even museum passes are there too! :)

  13. Jen says:

Patron is that good. I went to a Patron pairing event where they paired Patron cocktails with some food and they were very good.

  14. Marjolein says:

If you need tips for what to pick up at the library, let me know! (ever heard of Mark Haddon? If not, read, read, read! He’s an amazing author)

Weekend plans are Queen’s Day (today), cleaning the balcony and planting plants/herbs, lots of shopping and a party on Sunday! I’m really looking forward to that.

  15. I just don’t get the gourmet tequila thing, honestly. You’re supposed to mask it in delicious fruit slushiness, after all!

  16. Nikki says:

Enjoy that library card. I moved to a new city 3 weeks ago and I need to sort my priorities out and get one. I love me some reserved books!

I can’t place Katie H as Jackie, it just sounds wrong in my head. Well I hope she does a brilliant job.

Twilight ring?! I just cringed. Also as much as when my Mum told me she had found a Twilight t-shirt and would I like it in pink or black. I love the films (less keen on the books to be honest) but I’m not going to be sporting any Twi merchandise, possibly ever!

    Nacho cart – yes please!

Sandra Bullock – it’s great to see her glowing and enjoying motherhood. Especially great to see this after all the drama surrounding her marriage.

The Hills – Maybe I should just watch it to see if Heidi can move her face?

  17. phampants says:

Patron is GOOD! It’s a clean tequila that doesn’t burn while going down.

  18. jenn says:

those ARE random thoughts! first of all – am i the only one who will be sad when the hills are done? lo calling kristen a “crackhead” was classic and i for one, will miss it. and patron – AMAZING. you’ve never had patron??? change that, immediately.

  19. Ray says:

    Nacho Cart? Oh Glory!

  20. I saw that Oprah interview. And while I’d never want a best friend like Rielle, I will tell you that I admire her for sticking to her guns, regardless of how she’s perceived in the public.

  21. Melinda says:

Have you seen the Twilight ring? All I have to say about it is…UGLY!

As for the nacho cart, I want to work with you today!!!

  22. Stephanie says:

The whole food cart thing is so novel to me. I can’t imagine food coming to me at work on a cart. And yummy food?? The only food I get at work are goldfish and nilla wafers! But I guess it is probably better for me that it doesn’t!

  23. S. says:

Just remember to return those library books on time!! :)

  24. Ginger says:

I can’t see Katie as Jackie. I don’t really like how she acts at all, and she’s never a character to me, just Katie.
And oh my god how much would I love a nacho cart. How awesome is that?

  25. Stevie says:

I use my library card several times a week. I have a stack of books next to my bed that I’m reading (all at the same time). I absolutely LOVE the library, but sheesh. This is getting out of hand!

And I can’t believe you’re a 30 year old woman who has never had Patron. The Silver is my favorite. It’s really smooth and has a hint of smokiness. Delish!

  26. Ok, no, that bitch IS a homewrecker. Maybe she didn’t intend to be, and of course it takes two to tango, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that she played a huge part in destroying a marriage.

I’ve never had tequila at all, but it seems to be a lot of people’s liquor of choice.

  27. lbluca77 says:

    Patron is good. Very smooth.

And I agree that Katie Holmes should not be playing Jackie Kennedy. I bet scientology had something to do with her getting the part.

  28. mandy says:

I saw the announcement that Katie Holmes was going to play Jackie O and I was not amused. At all. The library is a beautiful place. Snack cart, nacho cart….are there any openings where you work?

  29. Arielle says:

    Patron IS that good. Yummmm.

  30. NO! Patron is gross. It still tastes like crappy tequila. You just pay 4x as much and convince yourself it tastes good.

But it is true that Crown tastes better than Wild Turkey. ;-)

  31. The Hills – I can’t…just can’t watch it. The last time I watched it regularly was when LC and Audrina were first roomies.

and the pictures of Sandra and her baby totally made me happy. The baby is gorgeous and I saw the rest of the pictures inside and they were stunning.

The Rielle Hunter interview was gross. and the fact that she kept calling him ‘Johnny’ was just….too much.

    enjoy your library card!!!

  32. Elizabeth says:

Enjoy that card! I’d be lost without mine.

I’m disappointed by that Katie Holmes being casted, but I’m curious to see what she does with it. Maybe she’ll blow it away!

  33. April says:

Oh lawsie I love Patron. I especially love it chilled for shots. Yummers.

If you need a new gym I say join FFC. I could use a gym bud!

  34. Lisa says:

How creepy was Heidi’s face when she tried to eat? Or cry, or talk, or blink…

  35. i love my library card – have fun reading!
yea, i also can’t see her as jackie o, weird!
    and nacho cart?!? crazy!
