Happy Sunday everyone! Tomorrow is a week before until my birthday and I’ve moved more into the dreading and nerves category of the birthday countdown. However, I did get one of my gifts this weekend that I mentioned in Friday’s post :) I won’t share everything until it’s all here but I’m SUPER excited!!!
Anyhow, this weekend was a busy and fun one. Friday I went out with a friend and bar crawled around the Loop. It was an impromptu crawl that had one goal: Patron.
Yes, I have never had Patron tequila, likely because I don’t really care for tequila unless it’s in a margarita. Let’s just say…the taste brings up bad memories. But my friend, who loves it, told me it tastes like liquid gold. So with an endorsement like that, I HAD to try it. And at $10/shot, it better also cure any germs I have in my body too.
So I tried it, lost my Patron virginity, and immediately chased it with Oberon beer. I can’t be classy ALL the time.
I don’t know if it’s real liquid gold but I will say, it was tasty. Here comes trouble!
Then Saturday, Jamie and Stacey invited me to a book club-themed Nintendo DS party at Pops for Champagne downtown. If I could live there, I would.
Look at the deliciousness we got to indulge in while discussing Pride & Prejudice?
That was some of the best cheese ever.
I also got to catch up with a ton of my Chicago bloggy peeps who I really don’t see regularly enough. And, WG2 and I tried to peer pressure Nic into reading Twilight and the Hunger Games series. I am a teen fiction pusher, I love that stuff.
Finally, I got my pre-birthday hair cut/color and I have a crush on a new hair product: Moroccan Oil. My stylist used it on me to add some shine and strengthen my hair. Color really damages your hair if you don’t take care of it.

I was a little skeptical of it at first, but now I’m really loving it and cannot stop touching my hair. It’s so soft and when the sun hits it, I swear you could land a plane because of the shine. I love it. But it’s a little pricy ($42 for 3.4 ounces) so I’ll have to hold off in buying it for now. I love girly stuff but I just cannot stand spending a lot of money on hair products. Sure, I use Bumble & Bumble shampoo but it lasts for a year, so I’m not rebuying it all the time. I spend a ton on make up, clothing and accessories but my hair is regulated to the drug store aisle. That’s just me.
Oh and since I never change up my haircut, you can see pictures of what it looks like from past ones I put on Flickr here and here.
How was everyone else’s weekend? Do you spend a lot on haircare products? Or are you a big tequila drinker or cheese addict?

Redken just came out with a new one that I think smells better. I am a Moraccan oil user but I like the Redken stuff a little better b/c its a little lighter on the hair and won’t leave you oily at the end of the day. Oh and its half the price.
My comment got cut off! First, Patron Silver is the best, and yes, it is way cheaper outside any major city. I actually took a picture of my bill at a bar in Metropolis, IL because Patron was only $3 a shot! Second, Moroccan Oil is expensive, but you only need a little and that bottle is huge and will last you for well over a year! It’s my fav new product too. I even bought the travel size to go with me on trips!
1. Patron Silver is the best
Ha ha! Pusher tendencies aside, I had so much fun hanging out with you and WorkingGirlTwo. What a pretty little table we had with our champagne and wine and cheese and desserts and tarts oh my! :) Also, we’ll have to arrange a play date for our Le Pliages again soon!
I went to a Patron pairing event a few months ago where they paired Patron cocktails and food and I fell in love with Patron.
yay for patron and book club, i mean seriously such a fun weekend. absolutely love it all.
Patron is my favorite tequila to shoot :) Well worth the $10 in my opinion! And I FULLY support spending the extra $ on hair care products :) I love healthy, shiny, hair and am always conscious of having it look great :) This is probably because I have teenagers staring at me all day—and I KNOW how judgemental they can be!!!!! Happy Early Birhtday!!!
I love Patron! There’s such a huge difference when drinking Patron and higher-end Tequilas. You can buy it pretty inexpensively at Costco!
you had me at cheese.
Um, $10 per shot? I think future shots should only be done in Wisconsin where they’re most likely a little cheaper.
I used to love Pops when it was on Sheffield near Wellington! I wonder if it’s still pretty much the same. I tried Drambuie there for the first time — tasted like nail polish remover, but it’s the experience that counts, right? ;)
1. I only drink Patron when in Vegas. It’s safer that way =) (at least for me)
2. I didn’t know you were at the DSi party on Saturday! I hosted one here in STL! So fun.
3. I *love* the Morrocan oil. It’s so amazing for the hair indeed. Not cheap, but worth it. I may add it to my birthday wish-list now that you mention it!=)
i love moroccan oil! here’s a heads up for you, at the local beauty supply store you can actually buy argan oil much cheaper and it’s the exact same thing – it’s what i use. i think i paid $10 (canadian) for a decent sized bottle…and the smell….oh love.
I can’t believe you waited this long to try Patron. SO GOOD!
Now that you’re no longer a Patron virgin, you must go to Tarasca’s on Clark. I haven’t been there in years, but they start you off with their tequila menu (which you can drink straight up or mixed into a margarita) and then give you the food menu. Might be a fun next-step for you.
Yum Patron is definitely a special-occasion only for me…for the cost and for the yumminess!!! I use hair serum every day, in my towel-dried hair and a little bit on dry hair, but it doesn’t have to be the super pricy stuff! I buy the $6 drugstore bottle…sleek and shine, maybe? And it works great!
Moroccan oil smells amazing!
The LV bag I have is the medium Neverfull- Damier pattern.
Happy Monday! :)
I love shiny hair, but my hair is so fine, I think the oil would just weigh it down. I’ve tried so many “shine” products, and they all just make my hair flat and greasy :(
Happy Almost Birthday! I think that you should splurge on the MoroccanOil for your birthday. It might be pricey but it will last a long time, and you are so worth it!
Aww sorry I missed Patron night! I think you’ll like it more over time. At least I hope so! …I am a total cheapskate about hair products cause I have thick, un colored hair right now. What kind of bumble and bumble do you use that lasts a whole year?
jose cuervo and i had terrible break up…but OBERON! dear sweet Oberon!!! Nectar from the gods!! (havent had that since i moved to the east coast…)
Oh wow, the moroccan oil sounds kind of amazing, and that party? Sounds like a great weekend!
I love margaritas, but I’ve never had tequila straight up. I swear everyone on earth is better at alcohol consumption than I am.
1.) You were a Patron Virgin?!?!? HOW are we friends????/
2.) So good to see you Saturday! Let’s plan dinner soon. And drinking. Lots of drinking. I suggested La Ciudad on Sheridan (close to me and WorkingGirlTwo)… it’s Mexican and BYOB (ohhh hellllloooo bringing my own personal pitcher of margaritas), but I’m open to anything.
I prefer my tequila in margarita form myself.
Do the really big bottles B&B really last the whole year? I’m tempted to splurge now!
Me and tequila are not friends….that stuff does not go go down good with me.
I love morrocan oil. I swear, it makes your hair dry faster. I did not believe it when my stylist told me that, but I swear, it cuts my drying time in half. I don’t remember it being that expensive. Maybe try online somewhere? I think drugstore.com has it.
Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am a cheese addict. Completely. 100%. It is bad. At the rehearsal dinner for the wedding I was in last weekend, they had a wine tasting and appetizers. Oh my. The cheese plate? I seriously think I ate a brick of Bleu cheese. And this week I went to a French restaurant and we got the cheese plate. And the cheese everyone else thought was stinky and gross? Yum!
That nintendo party sounds fabulous! Wine, cheese, discussing books. I need to live near you all. Did you keep the same hairstyle or opt for a new one? I’ve heard awesome things about that oil but I can’t bring myself to spend that sort of money on hair products when I get such fantastic products at the QVC Beauty Bash that really do last the year.
That cheese at Pops for Champagne was amazing. I ate a ridiculous amount of it!
So glad I got to see you this weekend!
I LOVED Patron until November of last year, haven’t had it since, don’t ever plan on having it again. As a matter of fact, I haven’t had a shot since that night. Ugh. Good tequila, but don’t overdo it :)
