Weekend recap: Using my Groupons

Happy Monday everyone! Now that I’m getting so close to my trips, I need to be careful about how many groceries I have in my house because, well I don’t want to waste food!

So, if I don’t have food at home, it’s time to go out…and use some Groupons! I have a tendency to be a Groupon hoarder (just like gift cards!) because they are like trading cards. You collect and collect and then WHOOPS time to use them! So now I have a new policy, no more Groupons until I start using at least two of them. Well this isn’t locked in stone but you know what I mean :)

And this weekend, after being scalded by water (accidentally) at the salon, having my welcome mat stolen (and later returned) and binging a little bit on Easter candy (SO GOOD), I took Sunday night off and went out with a good buddy for dinner at Takashi.

I won’t lie, I don’t know much about this place, but my food friends love it so I bought the Groupon and decided to finally use it.

Food porn, COMMENCE….

Duck fat fried chicken. So d*mn good I wanted to lay down and beg for mercy. I would go back JUST for this dish

Prosciutto-chicken coquettes – Is it wrong that I wanted to eat them like chips?

Ramen with egg noodles and beef. Being a carnivore, I wish there was more meat (TWSS!)

I’m so fortunate to have friends that love food like me and are willing to go to try these places with me.

Now, of course I have to buy ANOTHER Groupon, I just have to wade through the the offers for Botox (no joke), lash extensions and teeth whitening for another gem like this.

Do you use Groupon or other deal lists like Living Social? Do you have a tendency to collect them too?

I have a 2 Groupons to the same restaurant that will expire on May 11th. I don’t know what I’m going to do!

Side note: there are 20 coupon sites in Boston?!

Hello! I am finally back in the blog reading world. I do hoard Groupons too. But not nearly as bad as gift cards. Probably if I lived in the city where so many restaurants were near I totally would. I got a ton of the daily deal emails. I am obsessed with so many of the Internet shop sales. I buy birthday presents so far ahead of time, I can’t find them when it is really time!

You and your food porn. I don’t know why I haven’t learned to read your blog during my lunch hour when there is no food in my presence…!

  4. Jen says:

I subscribe to the 20 or so coupon sites in Boston and I have just gotten into sample sites. I have a little bit of a problem.

Big fan of livingsocial :) I’ve bought a couple of groupons but mostly i find them incredibly unuseful and in areas i would never go to.

  6. Your post got me thinking I should probably make a list of all my Groupons and Living Socials, complete with their expirations. I have 21. TWENTY ONE. Can we say daily deal intervention?

Anyway, your dinner looks scrumptious :)

i’ve only used groupon twice and it was got the gap and nordstrom rack, i really need to be more adventurous sometimes. also, that food looks amazing. i am salivating.

Hahah, I’m the opposite in that I never buy restaurant Groupons. But that doesn’t mean I don’t currently have two non-food-related Groupons waiting to be used.

Also, I was trying to explain the duck fat trend to my in-laws who are from small-town Arizona. They saw the Duck Fat restaurant in Forest Park and wanted to know what that meant. I admit, I haven’t tried duck fat anything yet but I REALLY want to.

Hi my name is Lacey and I buy too many groupons/living social deals/any other deals you can think of. At least I don’t have a spreadsheet like Arielle. Although maybe I need one.

  10. I’m a Living Social girl, mostly because I am morally (okay, fine, linguistically) opposed to Groupon’s god-awful copywriting. And I also hoard my deals, but seeing this is a reminder to, ya know, USE THEM.

  11. A Super Girl says:

I love Groupon, but mainly for the restaurants. You’re right that it’s been a bit of a chore wading through the salon and other “personal care” deals.

  12. Lil' Woman says:

Duck fat fried chicken…what the hell is that?!?

  13. DID YOU SAY DUCK FAT FRIEND CHICKEN?

    ::cries::
